Abstract

This monograph sought to analyze the career of brazilian singer Angela Maria in the historical contexts in which she lived, from her biography and the love relationships with her boyfriends and husbands, in the period she understands from the beginning of her career, in the 1950s, until her death in 2018. Radio singers in Brazil almost always came from poor families, whose parents usually did not come with good eyes the artistic career. The choice of object was motivated by the importance of the singer for the popular culture of Brazil, from radio to TV, problematizing the dilemmas and abuses of sentimental life with her boyfriends and husbands. Angela Maria went through the suffering of many women of her time, with the difference that she had fame and this scandalized but sold to the press of the time. As sources of this research we used the Radio Magazine, available in the Digital Library's Hemeroteca, as well as other magazines and newspapers of the time. We also use biographies and academic works such as articles and dissertations. The selected documentation consists of bibliographical research of radio­era researchers in Brazil and the social context of the time, such as Rodrigo Faour (2001, 2006, 2012 and 2015); Ruy Castro (2015); Ronaldo Conde Aguiar (2007 and 2010); Alcir Lenharo (1995) and Lia Calabre (2004). These authors were a bibliographic source and references to know, from the perspective of Cultural History, the period under study regarding issues such as: the role of women, the life of the artist, the society of the time and sexuality, the gender relations of submission of the feminine to the male. Finally, we found that although The biography of Angela Maria emphasizes one side of the facts (inform), and focus on the voice of the singer. and the media has often shown the abuses of her boyfriends and husbands, as she made affective choices. Unlike the ordinary women of her time, Angela Maria can start over many times and live what was possible to achieve in fame, affection, social recognition and economic conditions.
