Resumo:
This work aims to understand how the norm, deviation and deviants are constructed in the
Assembly of God church, Mission Ministry in Maceió - Alagoas, taking as reference the
transformation dynamics of the church's normative system. Starting from a comprehensive
approach of Weber, we analyze the functioning of what we call “Assemblies cultural system”,
its modus operandi. We discuss how the traditional Assembly modeling became possible and
the processes of transformation of normativity and definition regimes of deviance, seeking to
understand the experiences related to deviation from an intentional sample of subjects from
religious communities in the aforementioned subfield, stratified by sex, age group, education,
institutional position and type of congregation in which they participate. As data collection
techniques, we used structured and semi-structured interviews, direct and participant
observation and the analysis of the selected subjects' trajectories and the researcher's case.
For the analysis of the deviation, we used Becker's approach, carrying out a multivariate
study of the deviation in AD/MM, focusing on relational, contextual and situational aspects of
it. Among the main conclusions, we highlight the following: (1) the family and religious
relationships of the faithful are permeated by the construction of perceptions around the
deviation, which activate, on the one hand, the labeling of behaviors, and, on the other, lines
of escape from orthodoxy through the affirmation of individualities that denaturalized models
of religiosity understood as harmful to the experience of the 'gospel', to the relationship with
God and of individuals with themselves; (2) the recourse to rationality, the valorization of
science and theological studies has changed the profile of the assemblies regarding the
production and reception of institutional messages in general and specifically regarding to
the norms and deviation
