Résumé:
The Boa Vista - PB dam is located on the north axis of the São Francisco River, in a district of the municipality of São José de Piranhas. Because it is located in a region with low rainfall rates and due to its high water storage capacity, the dam has great importance for the region. With 45 meters of height, 220 meters of length and extension around 888 meters its capacity of accumulation of water is around 375 million cubic meters. However due to the lack of maintenance of the system some anomalies were
identified in the body of the dam, like vegetation in the upstream slope. This work aimed at analyzing the safety of the dam. Tables based on Law No. 12,334 of September 20, 2010 were filled through visual inspection of the body of the dam and found that its risk of rupture is low. The flow lines of the dam body were analyzed through the SEEP / w program and later the dam safety factors were analyzed through the deterministic and probabilistic method. By means of the deterministic method, a safety factor was obtained, which confirms that its slope is stable and, by means of the probabilistic method, a probability of ruin of 1 per 10000 dam was obtained. According to Baecher, 1982, for Nielsen, 1994 the dam is considered unsafe.
