Resumen:
Civil construction is the sector with the greatest potential for the use of various types of
industrial waste. Because of this the intention is to explore the various possibilities that
already exist, thus realizing an interaction and / or integration between segments and
productive chains. The marble and quartzite processing industries have generated large
volumes of waste with potential to be used in construction as an alternative raw material.
Thus, this study had as objective to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of the
concrete incorporated with marble residues in substitution to the large aggregate. The
specimens were molded in the 10 cm x 20 cm dimensions with partial replacement of the
large aggregate with 5% and 10% of the marble residue, and the absorption and resistance of
single compression at the ages of 7,14,21 and 28 days. It was observed that the substitution of
the large aggregate with the marble residue allowed to obtain a concrete with properties that
meet the normative parameters, highlighting the percentage of 10% of substitution that
presented resistance to simple compression 7.14% higher than the reference concrete.
