Resumo:
As a way to reach the growing demand for housing, the study of new materials for employment
in the concrete comes to assist civil construction in the replacement or complementation of raw
materials that are in scarce, such as large aggregates of granite origin in some regions of the
Brazil. Thus, the use of laterite concretions in concrete can help reduce costs and reduce the
demands of usual coarse aggregates. So, the study of its properties and the structural behavior
of the concrete is necessary for its application in works with safety. In this research, the behavior
of the stress strain curve for lateritic concretes was studied at 7 and 21 days in order to study
their characteristics and to obtain structural dimensioning parameters. Thereby, it was used as
reference a concrete with compression strength of 25 MPa and 150mmx300mm specimens were
molded to obtain the stress strain curve as established in ABNT NBR 8522: 2008. The
specimens presented a characteristic behavior of brittle material as expected for the concrete,
with values of modulus of elasticity close to those indicated by analitical methods. The
parameter εc2 of the strain strain curve obtained was 1.44‰ and thus presented a lower value
than that established in ABNT NBR 6118: 2014 of 2,00‰. So, the concrete studied can be used
as structural concrete because it presents resistance and stress versus strain curve as expected.
