Abstract:
Corbels are structural connections elements that perform the function of transfer forces of horizontal and vertical members to the foundation whose application occurs in prefabricated structures of concrete or reinforced concrete. The structural analysis and design of these elements are based on analytical methods, although the computational tools combine a fast and low cost solution, allowing a detailed analysis of different parameters of the real behavior, even for critical situations, from the implementation of a simplified mathematical model that reproduces the real situation. In this sense, this study carried out a numerical modeling of a very short corbel of reinforced concrete with the consideration of the main reinforcement for a nonlinear analysis using the finite method. The results were satisfactory occurring the rupture by cracking of the compression strut, showing a cracking pattern similar to the presented in the
experimental model.
