Resumen:
Civil engineering has always faced challenges when it comes to the execution of works
on soft soils, which have low resistance and that are subject to the action of prolonged
settlement, always requiring more careful analysis and studies. The main objective of this
study is to carry out a literature review on landfills on soft soils, their main characteristics,
and some possible solutions (expanded polystyrene, deep soil mixing, geosynthetics and
others) to correct the original soft soil conditions. It is possible to conclude that landfills
on soft soils can be performed efficiently and be successful in road construction, provided
that the behavior of these soils is well analyzed with respect to their stability, possibility
of settling and shear strength.
