Abstract:
The road mode is the most used in Brazil as a means of transport, being this mostly composed of flexible type pavements and must resist the efforts from traffic and climate actions during all its useful life. One of the ways to study the performance of flexible pavements and to characterize their materials is by means of their Fine Aggregate Matrix (FAM). The advantages of FAM are that it presents more homogeneous results in laboratory tests, using fewer materials. The present work had as objective to establish a correlation between the mechanical performance of the FAM and the behavior of its original Complete Asphalt Mix (CAM). For this, mechanical tests were carried out as: Traction Resistance (TR), Diametral Compression Fatigue, Resilience Module (RM), Flow Number (FN) and Dynamic Module (DM) and thus,
equations were proposed through graphic extrapolation. The results obtained for CAM presented superior performance to the FAM in all the performed tests. For the DM, the curve supplied by FAM approaches the CAM and presents more homogeneous results. The obtained equations point to the feasibility of using the FAM to predict the behavior of CAM because they present high values of R2. It is concluded that the properties of FAM have good correlations with the CAM, since the equations proposed in this work present small dispersions when used with similar materials and dosages. However, its validation requires tests with a larger number of data.
