Résumé:
In his constant need to reach the most diverse demands in progressively shorter periods of time,
man has sought to expand and improve skills and improve methodologies. In this sense, the
design of structural projects has been improved due to the use of softwares that are able to
perform the structure processing and presenting, potentially, properly results. As a result, the
standart text of NB-1/1978 was improved and now days, ABNT NBR 6118: 2014 presents a
more detailed and less conservative content. To notice those changes, this research presents two
comparative studies between the results of the structural design of a building built up in the
1990s and the modern processing performed by CAD/TQS® software. In the first Comparative
Study (Original Design and CAD/TQS®) it was found minor variations in the reinforced bars
weight of most structural elements, indicating similarities in the procedures and calculation
criteria. In the second one (NB-1/1978 and ABNT NBR 6118: 2014), the results of the
CAD/TQS® system indicated an increase of 11,5% in the total concrete volume and, in most
cases, a reduction in the quantity of reinforced bars.
