Abstract:
This study aimed to analyse the use of Drones for the monitoring of the Southwest Loop, located in BR - 230 in the city of Campina Grande – PB. This place was chosen due to the large number of traffic acidentes that occur in this route. The methodology used consisted of: documentary research, analysis of available data about the subject in question and information gathering with the main involved in traffic safety in the Southwest Loop, as for example, the Federal Highway Police. This work identifies Wednesday and Saturday as the two days with the highest occurrence of accidents which occur in greater intensity in the middle of the day. The understanding of the traffic operation in the studied region, as well as the main causes of traffic accidents and the situation of those involved after the accident, were important for a better understanding of the current situation of the Southwest Loop. Prioritizing traffic safety and the preservation of human life, it was possible to conclude the viability of the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in assisting the responsible bodies for traffic safety, monitoring the runway under study and assisting its accident victims.
