Resumen:
Urban public transport is a reflection of the direct demands of its users, such as the social, economic and cultural factors that define them. Among the parameters for analyzing the efficiency of public transport by bus in a city, travel time and cost are the most important since it directly affects the daily lives of users. However, there is a reasonable loss of time at the intersections and public transport by bus does not have any prioritization, when it is possible to make the buses have a reduction in the total travel time with priority at traffic lights. In view of this, an alternative was sought that would contribute to the quality of the service offered by public transport, and a study was carried out at a traffic light intersection, in the city of Campina Grande - PB, composed of an exclusive lane and with heavy traffic. For this purpose, a simulation model of the object area was developed, using the traffic analysis software PTV VISSIM, calibrated from the flow of vehicles surveyed in the field. In this study, two bus prioritization logics were used, the first is the logic of reducing the green time and the second is the phase change of the traffic light cycle, the results for the logic of reducing the green time of the other traffic lights of the intersection obtained an increase of 23.68% in the speed of operation of the buses, validating the effectiveness of the system in improving the efficiency of public transport with solutions of operational logic of traffic.
