Resumen:
For the past years, the discussion about the urban mobility is gaining global distinction,
considering that the cities are finding difficulties in guaranteeing the continuity of the traffic
flow produced and attracted by his activities. The results can be seeing in traffic jams which
directly impact the population’s quality of life, the environment and the economy, this last
feature considering the increasingly demand for investments necessaries to decrease these
negative effects and the excessive time wasted for the persons on their trips around the town.
Facing this problem, the transport engineering appeared aiming to understand and to optimize
the way the distribution of the travels happens on the roads. To help in this analysis, Caliper
corporation developed the software TransCAD, object of study of this paper. This paper aims
offer initial instructions about the use of TransCAD basic functionalities devoted to the initial
topics faced and studied in the Transport Engineering discipline of the Universidade Federal de
Campina Grande, such as the application of the mathematical model of multiple linear
regression for correlation analysis between different classes of data, methods to estimate
irgin/destiny matrices and growth factors and travels placements. Before what was studied, it
was possible to conclude that, even considering that the software main language is English and
despite it having little intuitive interface, the set of resources available gives the user the
opportunity to plan the traffic interaction needed to complex net analysis. TransCAD represents
a complete software able to store, exhibit, manager and analyze traffic data.
