Abstract:
This work shows a study about the collective transportation flow in the central area of the
city of Campina Grande - PB and aims to present scenarios referring to the placement of
exclusive bus lanes, along the guide of the central plot of Av. Floriano Peixoto, due to conflicts
identified through day-to-day observations and informal survey of pedestrians. Four scenarios
have been developed as alternatives for improving bus traffic. In the first and second scenarios,
buses travel in the counterflow and in the same direction as the other vehicles, respectively,
remaining unchanged the widths of the traffic lanes, in the section under study. In the third and
fourth scenarios, bus movements are similar to those in previous scenarios, however, with a
decrease in the number of traffic lanes due to an increase in the width of the bus-only lane. This
study showed that the scenarios considered can minimize the effects of the conflicts presented
in the study section, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the population, in
line with that expressed in the Urban Mobility Law.
