Résumé:
New materials are being inserted in civil construction market, many of which highlight the entry barrier due the lack of consumer confidence. As na exemple of it there are, they are known as vegetal fiber tiles, which, because they are lighter and more flexible than the fiber cement tile, which is the material that competes directly, including for the geometric similarity, and has great acceptance in the market, ends up promoting the idea of fragility a this tile. The comparative study was based on the Brazilian Performance Standard, ABNT NBR 15575-5: 2013. The test methodology consists of applying the impact of a steel ball in free fall at predefined heights. For the study, two groups of specimens were created, each consisting of
six tiles. The first, called “Tiles 1”, was formed by fiber cement tiles; a second one called “Tiles 2” was formed by vegetable fiber tiles. In each tile, six impacts were made at defined points. After the impact of the steel ball with the specimen, it was observed the occurrence of possible damages, related to dimensions, depth or cracks. It was observed that in the two sets of specimens the types of damage caused were similar. Analyzing the results obtained, it found that the vegetal fiber tiles dissipate more resistant to the impact action than the fiber cement tiles. In addition, as the sphere's height of fall, and therefore the impact energy measured in joules, increased, as differences in deformations were mitigated.
