Resumen:
The present study aims to detect the relationship between school / work in the specific situation of Agricultural Technical Course (CTA), a vocational course at the 2nd level level, in Paraíba
, through a survey of the professional situation of graduates of the Vidal de Neqreiros Agricultural College (CAVN) and the Assis Chateaubriand Agricultural College in the period 1974/1981. Initially, we did a study of education in capitalist society in general and the history of this form of education in Brazil, so that we can situate it in the present time and characterize the two (2) colleges that served as a basis for the research carried out. Particular emphasis was placed on the characterization of graduates and the professional situation in which they find themselves, and what factors hamper their chances of entering the world of work. As a data collection instrument, we used a questionnaire through which 305 graduates of the 901 who completed the course in the delimited period were reached. With the analysis of the testimonies obtained, we conclude that although most of the students are working, only relatively, a small percentage work in their area of training (45, 9%) because the others work outside this area of training (23.3 %) performing the most varied functions. among the former, we observe that a significant index is linked to public sector companies, having predominantly been entered by competition. At the same time, we also had a high number of unemployed Agricultural Technicians (TAs) (22.9%). A small percentage of graduates are enrolled in higher education (7.8%) despite the high demand for university (81.0%). We also verified that the main reasons cited by the graduates, motivating them to move away from their training area, are due to the fact that they are not able to obtain employment due to the limitation of the labor market (60.0% of those working in other activities and 65, 8% of the unemployed, pointed this cause as the most relevant).
