Abstract:
The object of study of this project is the building of the Financial Department of the State of Ceará, 2nd
head office´s, located in Fortaleza’s downtown, Ceará, Bazil. The building presents an architecture of the
Brazilian eclectic movement and is part of the inventory of historic and eclectic buildings that exist in the
region where it is installed. This building is underutilized unlike the other neighborhood historics buildings.
Considering the time of use, the misuse of internal spaces, the unifinished reforms and the carelessness with
the facade, the object of study has many damages that compromise both its use and its aesthetic appearance.
The general objective of this work is to propose a behavior for a conservation intervention in the
built heritage that serves as the basis for a future requalification of the built heritage, using the case of the
building of Sefaz /Ce 2nd head office’s. This research is justified because it considers that the conservation
of this historic building is important to contribute with the preservation of the historical memory of the place
and the architectural monument with characteristics of the style of the time. Three methodologies were used
to carry out this research: the first one was a diagram with a research proposal for intervention projects elaborated
by the architect and teacher Rosina Ribeiro (2016); the second was based on a technical bulletin
entitled “Pathology of Constructions: procedure for diagnosis and recovery”, prepared by the civil engineer
Norberto Blumenfeld Lichtenstein (1985); and the third is based on a methodology of study for intervention
in built heritage, proposed by the architect and teacher Alcília Afonso (2018), based on an analysis of the
first methodological line (Rosina Ribeiro methodology), combined with the text by Eduardo Tinoco (2009 ),
which explains how to know the state of conservation of a building. As a result of this work, guidelines were
obtained for the conservation and requalification of the studied building.
