Abstract

This task proposes a preliminary project of reform and expansion of an institutional building for the city of Campina Grande that is in inadequate conditions. The Institute of Education and Assistance for the Blind in the Northeast was chosen for its relevance in the region, because it is the only place nearby where the visually impaired can feel welcomed and get specialized care. The proposal of the preliminary project aims to adapt the institute to its daily activities for the benefit of its users and visitors, in order to make it an accessible place for all. For the definition of the relevant factors, research was done with the students, teachers and employees. These surveys were compared to the 9050 norm, the master plan and the code of works of the city of Campina Grande. With the defined concept, it was concluded that the notes and opinions of everyday users of space should be considered, respecting the logical sequence of the design process, in order to exhaust as much as possible the possibilities of existing solutions for each situation.
