Resumo:
Population growth, the model of economic development
and the excessive use of natural resources have had great influence
on humanity. As a result, contemporary interest in most spheres of
human intervention is reflected in sustainable development, including
architecture, in which the need for architectural projects with a focus
on sustainable practices is evident. In addition to the dimension
involved in this problem, the challenge of professionals in the area
is even greater with the complexity of integrating the environmental,
social and economic aspects of sustainability with the decisions made
in the project.
Thus, the objective of this work is to examine in general the
application of sustainability criteria in architectural projects that are
considered by their authors to be sustainable. To achieve this objective,
the methodology was based on the study of sustainability criteria of
the main certifications of environmental performance of buildings,
seeking to list the priority criteria directly related to architectural
design. After choosing five award-winning projects from the National
Public Architecture Competition “Casa da Sustentabilidade” Parque
Taquaral, Campinas - SP, the criteria applied were analyzed according
to their service, seeking to identify and argue about the various ways
of conceiving sustainable architecture. In view of the advantages
and disadvantages of the design decisions made, it was found the
difficulty to obtain a sustainable building considering all the elements
that constitute it, such as materials, construction techniques, adopted
systems, as well as the phases of its life cycle.
