Abstract:
The work deals with the relationship between school architecture and pedagogical practices, by understanding that the physical space of the school must offer an environment that enhances teaching and learning relationships. To this end, it carries out a case study of the school network of Boqueirão, in Paraíba, and develops an architecture project for an elementary school for the city, in order to overcome the deficiencies of the local school architecture. This general objective is subdivided into three specific objectives: (1) to propose a needs program that addresses deficiencies in the existing school network; (2) to define a building appropriate to local socioeconomic and environmental conditions; (3) to establish the school building as urban equipment that can be used by the external community. To this end, it is based on documentary research, bibliographical research and interviews with local school administrators. Finally, it concludes that it is possible, even within the local economic limitations, to have a more qualified school architecture and appropriate to pedagogical precepts.
