Resumo:
The climacteric is the transition period of phases of the woman's reproductive cycle, which occurs before and after menopause and triggers unpleasant symptoms, due to the imbalance in hormonal rates. The use of “natural” medicines, such as the isoflavone in Glycine max, known as soy, indicates the first line of therapy for treatment. Thus, it aimed to
to carry out a systematic review regarding the use of soy as a therapeutic alternative in the control
of hormonal regulation, as well as in the symptomatology of the climacteric and menopause. Materials were collected in the following databases: Academic Google, Brazil Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Science and Health (LILACS), and articles available in journals, with the descriptors: soy isoflavones, hormone replacement and phytoestrogens. Works from 2010 onwards and published in Portuguese were included, and works from less than 2010 and published in other languages were excluded. Several studies demonstrate positive effects regarding the use of soy in the reduction of climacteric and menopause symptoms, as well as its insertion in the diet. However, there is not enough evidence to recommend soy as a therapeutic alternative to control hormone replacement. It verifies the need for new studies related to the theme, mainly studies of clinical trials.
