Abstract:
Understanding acoustics as a fundamental element in the construction of good religious architecture has become a recurring theme in architectural productions that aim to optimize the sound experience of the faithful in a church or auditorium. Understanding the historical construction of this architectural typology is necessary when there is an intention to intervene in improving the equipment. The acoustic treatment of these buildings, which is strictly related to a good understanding of the spoken word and music, is of great importance to promote user comfort. In this way, the Regular Baptist Church of Alto Branco serves as a good rehearsal for studies of architectural intervention, both in structural and acoustic contexts. Through measurements, surveys and questionnaires, the main problems involving the building were diagnosed, which served as the basis for the subsequent architectural proposals. The work that follows is intended to use theoretical studies and feld diagnostics to develop a proposal for a preliminary draft of architectural and acoustic requalifca-tion in a Christian temple, aiming to meet the standards established by current regulations.
