Resumo:
The objective of this study was to identify the degree of knowledge of dental surgeons and dentistry students of a population in Paraíba about oral manifestations caused by arboviruses dengue, zika and chikungunya. The research instrument used was an individual questionnaire consisting of three categories of questions: 1) Identification of the individuals' profile; 2) General knowledge about arboviruses and 3) Knowledge about oral changes caused by infection by dengue, zika and chikungunya, a priori filled in physically and after the pandemic caused by COVID-19 through the digital platform Google Forms. The answers obtained were tabulated forming a database submitted to statistical, descriptive and inferential analyzes and a significance level of 5% for all tests was adopted. A total of 222 questionnaires comprised the evaluated sample, of these 71 were answered by dental surgeons (DDS) and 151 by dental students (DS), being statistically observed that the DCs had a greater understanding of the subject, with emphasis on specific questions. However, there is no certainty on the part of both participants in diagnosing or associating aboviruses and oral diseases (P <0.050), which may reflect the lack of approach during graduation (P = 0.044) and in scientific events ( P <0.050). It can be concluded that academics and dentistry professionals have a relatively high degree of knowledge about oral disorders resulting from infection by the studied diseases. However, it is necessary to direct greater investments to solidify and disseminate the subject, as well as more detailed and detailed research needs to be carried out.
