Résumé:
Dentistry schools clinics belonging to Higher-educational Institutions must meet the
demands of users who seek various services, including preventive treatments aimed
at maintaining the patient's good oral health conditions. Given this, the present study
aims to identify the presence of white spot lesions in children attended in the
discipline of Child Clinic II of the Dentistry Course at the Federal University of
Campina Grande, campus of Patos, Paraiba, in the specialty of odontopediatrics.
The sample consisted of 196 medical records and the collected data presented
information regarding demographic variables (gender, age and city where he lives),
presence of lesions with active or inactive white spot, number of lesions in each
patient, dental elements more affected by these lesions and on which dental face it
was more prevalent. Of the 196 medical records, 37 had active white spots, 20
inactive white spots and 17 active and inactive spots. The female gender presented
52.68% of the sample and the age of 8 to 10 years prevailed (43.23%). Regarding
the most affected elements, the molars had a higher prevalence of active white ax
(31.65%) and incisors of inactive white spot (41.44%). The face most affected by
both injuries was the vestibular, 41.09% in the active white spot and 54.54% in the
inactive one. Thus, knowledge of the data of patients who seek teaching clinics can
assist in the development of preventive measures that reduce the incidence of caries.
These data can also assist in the identification of these lesions in their initial stage,
leading to a more conservative treatment.
