Resumo:
This study discuss the use of the textbook of history in the classroom, at present, having
as research locus the State School of Elementary and Secondary Education Prof. Dione Diniz Oliveira Dias, the municipality of Sousa-PB. The survey was conducted through literature review on the subject focused, documentary sources LDB, NCPs etc. and the application of semistructured interviews with history teachers and students of that school. The main objective was not to investigate only the quality of the textbook, but mainly address the idea of the profile of a well qualified and professional able to use this material, checking the difficulty of its use in the workplace and at the same time thinking the textbook as a cultural artifact, whose importance to the teachinglearning involves different subjects, among them, the teacher and the student. To this end, we consider the issues related to the training of teachers and the production of this material, in a constant search for new interpretations and questions about its use and improvements in school practice.
