Résumé:
The aim of this study was to assess the level of self-confidence of undergraduate dentistry students in performing the stages of endodontic treatment in different dental groups in the Dentistry course at the Federal University of Campina Grande. This is an observational, analytical, cross-sectional and quantitative research, in which a questionnaire was applied via the Google Forms platform to students who were attending between the sixth and ninth term who agreed to participate in the research. Data were recorded in the form of a database of the computer program SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential bivariate statistics. According to the data collected in the questionnaire, the survey results showed that most students feel more "confident" in the radiography steps of odontometry (50.5%) and conemetry (45.6%) in single-rooted teeth, if they feel “neutral” at all stages of treatment in premolar teeth. In relation to molars, a large part feels “very little confident” for the steps of cone test radiography (33.0%) and coronary opening (32.0%). It was also observed that there was no statistically significant association between the level of self-confidence of students and the academic period attended. Therefore, it is concluded that students feel confident in the endodontic treatment stages in the single-rooted dental elements group and little confidence in the molar group, regardless of the academic period attended.
