Abstract

This work carries out Bibliographic research using the UFCG Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations as an information source. The collection of the Post-Graduate Program in Animal Science was explored and 14 dissertations were researched whose research worked with agro-industrial co-products and by-products. As a general objective, it was established to understand the relevance of the researches carried out in the PPGCA with co-products and by- products in the view of the respective authors, having as a relation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations until 2015. The detected works were explored through the content analysis and the fragments identified related to the SDGs. As a result, it was found that the works that worked with by-products of the biodiesel chain were the ones that presented the most sustainable arguments in their justifications. The research that focused on the by-product of buriti oil, on the other hand, had a more technical focus on bovine nutrition, not presenting sustainable contextualization that could be the basis for crossing with the SDGs. It is concluded that even before the institutionalization of the UN goals, the PPGCA dissertations, especially those focused on agro-industrial by-products, were already aligned with a philosophy of sustainable development, which strengthens the potential that it is possible to produce and improve practices in agriculture with actions that favor the planet's sustainability.
