Resumo:
The use of laser has expanded in all areas of medicine, aesthetics and dentistry; presenting significant results in several specialties, such as temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), which is a complex, multifactorial and self-limiting pathology. Thus, the aim of this study was to develop an integrative bibliographic review with the purpose subsidize a protocol for the use of low-power laser in the treatment of TMD for the Clinical School of Dentistry of UFCG. Articles published through the digital platforms GOGLEE SCHOLAR, SCIELO AND PUBMED were analyzed, between 2016 and 2021. Through the results acquired in this literature review, where 20 (twenty) articles composed the study, it was found that one of the greatest benefits of laser is pain reduction, which produces relief and comfort for patients with TMD. It is concluded that the best suggestion for a protocol of laser therapy use in the treatment of pain in TMD is the Gallium Arsenet Aluminum 810-900 nm, energy density below 10 J/cm2, power of 100-500 mW; administration satand and masticatory muscles, especially in the masseter and painful spots.
