Abstract:
The human kind need to understand its living space stimulated the emergence of
Geodesy. This science has been providing important contributions over the years to
various scientific fields, including the Civil Engineering, adding new essential data and
applications towards society’s life quality increase. Prominent among these
applications are the geodesic landmarks. Managed by the Instituto Brasileiro de
Geografia e Estatística – IBGE, these landmarks are the basis to many studies and
projects, once they provide us precise geographic location and altimetric values. Thus,
the focus of this paper was to verify the precision of planimetric and altimetric data of
the landmark RN1832G located on the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande,
Campina Grande campus. In this regard, the data were collected with the help of two
different GNSS equipment: a dualfrequency
geodesic GNSS and a navigation GNSS.
After processing the obtained data, a comparative analysis between the results and
the data of the IBGE geodesic station, related to the RN1832G landmark, was
conducted. The achieved results point out that the geodesic GPS obtained a more
significant convergence to the actual position of the landmark.
