Resumo:
The smoke control systems in buildings are extremely important in order to direct preservation of human life, as the smoke accounts for the largest number of deaths in a fire situation. Its importance is elevated when it comes to public meeting locations, where agglomeration of people can lead to panic and to amplify the risk of death by smoke inhalation. In this regard, it was studied in existing public meetings locations in Campina Grande – PB, in which systems and devices were inserted, as well as it is required by current standards in the state. For that, it was done a survey of the actual condition of studied buildings, analyzing the existence of direct and indirect systems of smoke control, the indirect are: control of coating and finishing materials, horizontal compartmentation, local architectural and decorative elements and the direct system of smoke control of the building. Through the filling of tables that can help adequacy or inadequacy of above elements, it was possible to achieve a diagnosis of the current situation of smoke control in public meetings locations. Finally, it can be noted that few evaluated elements are not considered highly relevant for the subject, while others are adequate according to the evaluation made, however, another elements are not implanted even though it is feasible.
