Resumen:
With population growth on the planet, concern for environmental issues has been increasing and studies have emerged to try to reduce environmental stress. The waste generated by the industry when deposited in the nature besides polluting the soil, water and air can trigger diseases in that region, damaging the population, fauna and flora. To ensure the health of the planet are increasing the amount of studies for reuse of this waste and the construction large consumer of raw material is a sector of great capacity for studies of these reuse. The waste generated by the processing of marble is increasingly being increased by the great growth in the use of marble. The main objective of this work was to evaluate the mechanical properties of mortars incorporated with 10% and 20% of marble residues in partial replacement to the small aggregate. 5 cm x 10 cm specimens were molded and subjected to simple compressive strength determination at control ages of 7, 14 and 28 days. It was observed that the partial replacement of 10% to the small aggregate by marble residue promoted a small reduction of the resistance of the blocks when compared to the values obtained for the reference blocks, and for the partial replacement of 20% a small elevation was observed resistance.
