Abstract:
Ticks are present in almost all Brazilian territory, and there are several species of
ticks,including the Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus,which is a responsible
formajoeconomicloss. Because of the inappropriate use of acaricides are these parasites
becoming
increasingly resistant, causing damage not only to animals but also to the environment. In this
work we used the Amitraz, Cypermethrin and distilled water asa control, in groups formed by
engorged female Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplusno, which were collected randomly in
the semiarid region of the state of Paraíba. The effectiveness of the acaricides: Amitraz and
Cypermethrin on females was analyzed by observing the following parameters: prelaying
period (PPP), laying period (PP), egg production index(IPO), reproductive frequence index
(IFR), reproductive efficiency index(IER), product efficacy index(PEI), fertility index (FI)
and it was also used according to mathematical formulasDrummond et al (1971). The
analyzes were carried at the Parasitology Laboratory of the Academic Unit of Veterinary
Medicine (UAMV) Health Center and Rural Technology (CSTR) at the Federal University of
Campina Grande (UFCG). The results demonstrated a both the resistance of ticks
Cypermethrinas to Amitraz, not reaching 95% efficiency.
