Abstract:
This dissertation searches to understand the construction of implicit reader through the empties present in the text, having as corpus a contemporary narrative destined to the children and youth public, entitled Coraline (2003), of the english author Neil Richard Gaiman. The question that guides this dissertation revolves around the identification of the elements presents in the narrative, which demarcate the implicit reader's presence and promoting clues to identify the spaces of action that would subsequently assumed by the real reader. For this, the main reference used respect to Wolfgang Iser's theory (1996) in his text on the esthetic effect. Through this reference, of narrative analysis in question and other readings, it sought to delimit which ideological and esthetic effects involved in the reader's construction within the oeuvre, categorizing aspects presents in the attitude of the contemporary reader. Such questions are justified within of the meaning construction processes of reading theories of literary text, which are debtors to authors like Edgar Allan Poe, a pioneer in the reflections about on the presupposition of the reader in the fictional texts. Another relevant point concerns the identification of reading clues and resources used to maintain the interest, even as the presence of suspense, beyond the intention to situate the author and his style in the literary tradition of short narrative through the influences identified in its production. Were realized critical-analytical readings focused on the oeuvre's structure and in the contexto of your writing.
The research methodology is called basic because pretend to generate new knowledges, theoretically, starting from a bibliographic study and analysis of current oeuvre and still with rare studies. Our results are based specifically on the pole of the reader's esthetic creation (author-work-reader), this determined as a producer of meaning, structured specif ically in the text as esthetic solution strategy defended by Poe (1846) and updated in Gaiman's narrarive. The use of qualitative methods in this paper refers to the attitude of not qualifying values, but to analyze the context in intention to reach a conclusion. It sought to study aspects not numerable, but close to the universe of meanings present in determined object, linking the producer and identifying the influences in a specific element - the literary work.
