Resumo:
Retrospective pseudopregnancy in bitches and Answered cats at the Veterinary Hospital of UFCG , Campus Patos between the years 2010 to 2014. The pseudopregnancy or pseudopregnancy is a syndrome that affects females in estrus
and luteal phase. Because of increased prolactin female presents maternal behavior,
adoption of objects and animals, swelling in the breasts and lactopoiese. This syndrome
can occur at any age, normal and ciclante being female, being able to present every
other heats. The pseudopregnancy may cause some diseases such as mammary cancer
and pyometra, but this information is not well elucidated. Although occur at high
frequency cases coming to the clinic has reduced to be a value of generally mild
symptoms syndrome who have spontaneous remission after three weeks. When
necessary processing, one must first rule by ultrasound, x-ray dosage relaxin or a
possible pregnancy. The study was conducted at the Veterinary Hospital of UFCG,
CSTR, campus Patos-PB, during the period 2010-2014, in order to account for cases of
pseudopregnancy in dogs and cats and find what the primary means of diagnosis,
treatment used and the predisposition for race or age. During this period they were
answered 5,170 females, with 3,746 dogs and 1,424 cats, dogs and these 19 were
diagnosed with pseudopregnancy, with no cases in feline species. In general, the
behavioral profile of diagnosed bitches resembles been described in the literature,
however, there was a predominance of animals aged three to five years and animals
undefined breed (SRD), preceded by the Pinscher breed, poodle and Yorkshire.
