Resumo:
The objective of this study was a retrospective analysis of cases of canine mammary
tumors, diagnosed in Clinical Small Animal Veterinary Hospital UFCG, Campus Patos-
PB, specifying the age, race, anatomic location of the affected mammary gland, use of
contraceptives, effects of castration and type of treatment chosen, from 2009 to 2013, in
order to analyze the presence of mammary tumors in dogs and the correlation with factors
that can influence the appearance of the same. The most affected dogs were adult 3-8 years
old (46,7%), SRD (mongrel) (41,5%). As for the location of the tumor in the mammary
chain was not possible because the chips not informed. Also analyzed was exposed to the
use of progestogens dogs (28,9%) and bitches whole (non-castrated) (62,2%) are more
susceptible to the onset of this condition, with the main method of treatment, surgical
treatment (74,8%).
