Damage promoted by ticks in dog breeding. The objective of this study was to evaluate which major losses that ticks can transmit to human and animal health, aiming the transmission of diseases such as babesiosis, ehrlichiosis and canine anaplasmosis, and analyzing through a questionnaire which medicines indicated for the treatment of diseases transmitted by this ectoparasite and what the drugs recommended for the control and extermination of the same environmental and animal. In this paper questionnaires were given to veterinarians, the clerks of veterinary products store and dog owners in the municipalities of Patos-PB and Monteiro-PB, to obtain information on the use of general acaricides, which are the most used / indicated for the control and / or extermination of ectoparasites on the environment and dogs, the occurrence of diseases transmitted by ticks to dogs as well, which forms of treatment given by veterinarians or by the clerks of veterinary products interviewed shops as well as which products used to control and extermination. Through questionnaires applied in literature searches performed in this study, it can be observed that are offered numerous measures to combat the ectoparasites such as ticks, but for its ease of reproduction and insecticide resistance indicated increasingly becomes complicated their extermination especially in the domestic environment. Clerks of veterinary products stores, as well as their own veterinarians indicated as acaricide Amitraz and Cypermethrin, saying good / excellent efficacy, turn respondents dissatisfied owners demonstrated the effectiveness of these products in both
municipalities Patos - PB and Monteiro – PB. For diseases transmitted by ticks to veterinarians interviewed generally indicated the use of products based on doxycycline and mostly use supportive therapy, and in some cases a blood transfusion is necessary, depending on the condition of the frame that is the dog.
