Resumen:
Effect of inclusion of Lithothamnium calcareum on nutrient digestibility in growing goat diets. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of Lithothamnium calcareum on digestibility of nutrients in diets for goats in growing phase. Complete diets were adjusted to meet the requirements recommended by the NRC (2007), with three levels of Lithothamnium calcareum and a control group: T1 = 0,0%; T2 = 0,7%; T3 = 1,4% and T4 = 2,1% of Lithothamnium calcareum. Sixteen animals were distributed in a randomized block design with four replications, housed in metabolic cages duraste a period of fifteen days receiving the experimental diets. Of these were ten days of adaptation and five for data collection. There was no effect (p> 0.05) gives inclusion of the mineral on the intake of dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber for the evaluated diets. It was observed that the inclusion of algae promoted effect (p <0.05) on the consumption of digestible NDF, with values 116,16 g ; 116,25 g; 117,60 g and 118,87 g, respectively, for the treatments with 0,0%; 0,7%; 1,4% and 2,1% inclusion Lithothamnium calcareum in the diet, thus showing that the inclusion of this mineral source in the diet, same not influencing the total intake of NDF, increased a digestible NDF consumption, for animals that received the highest concentrations in Lithothanium calcareum in the diet, thus confirming that the organic source of mineral It allowed the animals had a better use of the fiber. Was observed increase (P <0,05) in digestibility of neutral detergent fiber, with values ranging from 45,288% NDF digestibility for control diet, 50,313% NDF digestibility for diet with 2,1% of the mineral. The Lithothamnium calcareum increases the digestibility of fiber in diets for growing goats.
