Understanding how Community Health Agents mean and approach the
sexuality and the prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection among men,
in the Family Health Strategy. Method: This is a descriptive study, of a
qualitative study, carried out with 25 Community Health Agents from the municipalities of Paraíba de
Cuité, Nova Floresta, Barra de Santa Rosa and Picuí. As a data collection instrument,
a semi-structured interview script was used, and the empirical material was analyzed by the
technique of Content Analysis, thematic modality, with the support of Iramuteq Software in
version 0.7 alpha 2, using Reinert's Method. Results: Three categories were formed
themes, entitled: male sexuality and the adoption of preventive measures in
perspective of Community Health Agents; the role of the female figure in the
HIV prevention among men; the importance of Community Health Agents in the actions
of HIV prevention among men. Final Considerations: The Community Agents of
Health have great importance in the intensification of HIV prevention among men in the
scope of Primary Health Care, as it is the professionals who are routinely
establishing trusting relationships with users and looking for ways to stimulate these
men to take care of themselves and access health services for the development of practices
preventive.
