Abstract

Comparative study of the anatomy of the cervix and quantification of uterine caruncles in goats and sheep in the city of Patos-PB. This study aimed to carry out an anatomical study, based on the quantification of uterine caruncles and biometrics of the cervix, making a comparison of findings between the goat and sheep species. vaginal cytology method also was used as a tool in identifying the stage of the estrous cycle in both species evaluated. The results indicate that the amount of caruncles shows wide variation between the two species studied, and even among females of the same species. The morphology and morphometry of the cervix of these species is also quite varied, and there is a standard way, even when comparing the follicular phase and luteal. Statistical evaluation of the results obtained in this study is needed to identify the presence of significant differences between the two species evaluated.
