Resumo:
Conformation, finishing and carcass morphometry of grazing-finished goats receiving different proportions of white mallow hay (Sida cordifolia) as part of the supplementation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the conformation, finishing and morphometry of carcasses in crossbred caprine F1 (Boer x Undefined Race) finished in thinned Caatinga enriched with buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) receiving diferent levels of malva branca's (Sida cordifolia) hay as part of suplementation. We used 24 uncastrated male caprine, with a initial weight of 20 kg. The experiment took place at Lameirão farm, belonging to Federal University of Campina Grande, localized in the city of Patos, state of Paraíba, Brazil. The experimental diet used was compesed by native pasture enriched
and a energy and protein suplement with diferents levels of malva branca's hay. The animals were randomly distributed in four distinct treatments, receiving: 0; 10; 20 and 30% of malva branca's hay along with the concentrated, using a completely random design with four treatments and six repetitions. The data was submited to a variance analysis and, when appropriate, were tested by regression, always at a 5% probability level. There wasn't any statistical difference (P>0,05) about the conformation, finishing and morphometry of caprine carcasses between the treatments evaluated. It is concluded
that supplementation of F1 crossbred caprines (Boer x UR) with malva branca's hay in partial substitution of the concentrate does not change the carcass quality in the studied parameters, allowing their use at any level. Considering the cost, it's recommended the level of 30% of mauve hay and 70% energy protein concentrate as a supplement for goats finished in Caatinga thinned and enriched with buffel grass.
