Resumen:
This paper presents an analysis of Brazilian language manuals that were writtenon
two periodsin the 1960s and 1970s and in the years 2000 and 2010. We make this
division because we essentially seek to answer the following question: What are the
similarities and differences in the constitution of the sensesof thediscursive position
of linguists and professors in linguistics manuals produced in these different eras?
This question is linked to the general objective of investigating how they are
constituted and articulated the discursive positions oflinguistsand professorsin the
Brazilian language textbooks at different times, which is divided into three specific
objectives: a) To identify the constitution of the discursive position of the linguist and
Professor in Linguistics manuals, produced in Brazil between 1960 and 2010; b) To
comparatively analyze the formation and articulation of the senses of the discursive
place of the linguist and professor in linguistics manuals produced in Brazil between
1960 and 2010 and c) To reflect on the implications of the speeches analyzed for
teaching. To reach them, we anchored in the theoretical assumptions of discourse
analysis, based on the reflections of Pêcheux (1988), Orlandi (1999) and Dantas
(2007), highlighting the subject of concepts, meaning and discursive p ositions. For
corpus composition, we elected four manuals, namely: Introduction to linguistic
studies (BORBA, 1967), Contemporary Language Fundamentals (LOPES, 1977),
Introduction to Linguistics:. Domains and borders (MUSSALIM; BENTES, 2001. Vol 1
and 2) and Introduction to Linguistics (FIORIN, 2014. Vol 1 and 2), in which we
selected text clippings that best answer to our research interest, developing an
interpretive study of discursive approach and qualitative nature. The data analysis
shows that the Language of teaching setting, was anchored in general, in the 60 s
and 70s, in an image of descriptive and structuralist science of language, initially
holding a discursive position of linguists and professors based on discourse
association between these two social roles. In the decades of 2000 and 2010,
Linguistics is supported predominantly by the image of Linguistics accustomed to
functionalist discourse and pragmatic approach, which permeates the teaching of
Linguistics at this time.
