Resumen:
In Brazil, access to higher ed ucation institutions has increased considerably in the last years, either by the national offer of places in public institutions or by financial
incentive programs in private institutions. Attached to this reality, there is the need of the student from other locations to stay in the city where he seeks his education.
Therefore, the present work intends to develop a housing building in
the city of Campina Grande for college students coming from other
places. The student housing should bring important social contributions for the student, having spaces that complement the academic environment with dynamic areas and collective use, study areas and well
served with leisure, commerce and services, acting as an incentive el ement so that the student remain
at the university until the completion of his studies. For this reason, the present project sought, at basic
project level, to develop an architectural project that emphasizes, in addition to the housing building,
living and socializing spaces forthe students. To achieve this goal, several steps were developed, such as: (a) construction of the theoretical framework and methodological approach (b) the examination of
correlated architectural designs of university residences, followed by (c) the development of preliminary
studies. The methodology of project design adopted in this work was guided by modern design criteria,
based mainly on the project methodology established by Prof. Dra. Alcília Afonso, whose design focus
is established in three main parts: (i) form, (ii) detail and (iii) process.
