Resumen:
The practice of martial art has been spreading for decades in Brazilian society, and the
city of Campina Grande has an immense number of social projects that offer them, but
few have the minimum structure necessary, and little is known about it in the area of
architecture. In the universe of martial arts, Campina Grande has a brilliant history, being
hometown of one of the greatest fighters in history, Ivan Gomes, however, its name has
been forgotten over the decades. The present work consists of the elaboration of the
preliminary study of the Center for Combat Sports and Memorial Ivan Gomes, a space to
rescue the brilliant history of the "unbeatable fighter", and to support all social projects
in the city. As a result, not only the architectural project was elaborated, but also a model
of organization and management for such a space, identifying which areas of knowledge
and professionals need to be involved in a work that uses the martial arts as a tool to
promotion social welfare, public health and leisure.
