Resumo:
The use of medicinal plants to prevent, treat and cure diseases
started from the discovery of its therapeutic properties. That
practice has been developed throughout history and perpetuated in
generation to generation. In times of a pandemic, the population has resorted to
increasingly to the search and use of medicinal plants that will help in the
treatment and relief of symptoms of COVID-19. COVID-19 is a disease
infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which has already reached thousands of
people all over the world. In view of the above, the review aimed to
identify medicinal plants with therapeutic potential and evidence
scientific and that are being used by the population for the treatment and/or
relief of symptoms of COVID-19. It is a research work
integrative literature that was developed and supported through the
analysis of scientific articles obtained from Scielo, Pubmed,
Capes Journal, Google Scholar, from 2016 to 2021.
80 articles were found, 65 articles were worked on. The results showed
than the most cited species: Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (Licorice), Allium sativum
(Garlic), Eucalyptus globulus labil (Eucalyptus), Curcuma longa L. (Turmeric), and
Uncaria tomentosa (Cat's Claw) showed anti-SARS-CoV potentials and
Valeriana officinalis (Valeriana), Passiflora incarnata L. (Passiflora) and Mikania
glomerata Spreng (Guaco) were used for symptoms of COVID-19
as adjuvants in dealing with the pandemic. At the end of this study,
evident the importance of the use of medicinal plants to help the
population in the treatment and/or relief of symptoms of COVID-19 and the
their contribution as they are promising candidates for future
herbal medicines, with the pharmacist having a key role both in
development of these new drugs as well as guidance on the use
of medicinal plants.
