Apiculture products are alternatives to the inhabitants of areas of Brazil that have precarious health care systems available, which also motivates their cultural use as a source of income; there are several species of bees, among them the native or meliponíneos social, they have inhabited the planet since the Cretaceous period and its rational creation that comes to be, meliponicultura, is developed mainly in the note and northeastern Brazil. The jandaíra bee is a meliponíneo typical of the sertão, its creation by is of easy handling, that produces geoprópolis and honey being of excellent quality with coloration that depends on flowering, storage and climatic factors. This work aims to perform a check of the in vitro antimicrobial activity of the honey and geoprópolis of
Melanda Sherpa Subnitida Duke bacteria: Gram positive Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212; Gram negative strains Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Proteus mirabilis ATCC 25922. Disk diffusion and microdilution tests with different concentrations of honey and Geopropolis de Jandaira were performed. The results were measured by measuring the diameter of the halos , in mm, formed around the disks containing the reagents that when greater than 6 mm becomes visible and indicates susceptibility of the microorganism to the substance tested, we observed that the geopropolis was capped to inhibit growth of all strains except E. coli and honey showed no antibacterial activity.
