Abstract:
This dissertation proposes to analyse the performance of the PRO-ALCOHOL PROGRAM in the State of Paraíba, regarding its social and economic aspects. The State of Paraíba has nine distilleries: four of them are autonomous, and five are annexed. Our study was based upon the social analysis of employers in relation to workers, as well as the enlargement, of market work and life improvement that the PROGRAM, through its enlargement, can bring to the State of Paraíba, mainly to its rural population. Concluding, special attention and importance are given to the utilization of small distilleries to alcohol production. We also considered the participation of small em ployers in the PROGRAM, as well as the possibility of decrease the unemployment in the rural zone and, this way, avoiding the income concentration in the hands of few big employers.
