Résumé:
Perineal hernia in dogs - literature review. The perineal hernia mainly affects male dogs, non castrated and middle aged to older. This condition is rarely found in female dogs and can be either unilateral or bilateral. Perineal enlargement and distressful, difficult defecation are the most prominent clinical signs. Although the etiology remains unclear, factors such as rectal diseases, hormonal imbalances and prostatic affections seem all to be involved. The present work aims to carry out a review of the literature addressing the symptoms the main method of diagnosis and treatments for a better understanding of this disease.
