Abstract:
The present study had as objective to evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness from a
Biotherapic comparing it with an Allopathic medicine for controling of the infestios by
ticks, treating the animals on its natural ambient. Were used 16 dogs, without race, males
and females, with age of 1,6±2,1, weight of 11±6,3kg, homemade food, divided in two
groups (GI and GII) of same number (n=8). On GI was used an allopathic drug from
Fipronil, dose of 10ml to 10Kg, each thirty days. On GII was used a Biotherapic, two oral
corpuscles, daily, during three months. Were evaluated medium values of Erythrogram,
Total Proteins, Albumin, Globulin, and the relationship between Albumin/Globulin before
(day 0), during (day 45) and after (day 91) the administration of the drugs, and the
counting of teleogenes, nymphs and larvas, made weekly on the body of the dogs. The
treatment with Fipronil (GI) developed faster hematological response, because recovered
the anemia of the dogs, what did not occur with the group of the Biotherapic, which kept
constant. The results of serum biochemistry demonstrated that the treatments interfered on
the protein profile from animals. On the ticks counting, both groups began and ended
statistically equal. It was concluded that the both medicines were efficacious, even so
without the control of the invironment. However the Fipronil demonstrated a faster
response than Biotherapic and can have a better efficiency in cases of graver infestios. So,
it suggests a new study with the used medicines, building groups which can have or not
control of the environment, increasing the time of administration and evaluation of the
medicines, comparing them with a specific Biotherapic formuled with the ticks from the
dogs from studied region.
