Resumo:
The aim of this study was to evaluated the use of the male effect on the synchronization of
the estrus in sheep associated to a hormonal administration. The experiment was
accomplished in the farm Barra do Riacho in the distrit of Afogados da Ingazeira, semiarid
Area of Pernambuco. 90 females were used, with body score 2.5 to 3 (1 to 5), 4 teaser
and 4 males of the Dorper breed, with proven fertility. The females were separate from
physical and visual contact of males for a period of one month and they received
concentrated ration twice a day. 3 experimental groups were formed with 30 sheeps each:
G1 they had inserted sponges intravaginal impregnated with 50mg of progesterona of
medroxiacetato (MAP), for a period of 14 days, in the twelveth day of permanence 0,5ml
cloprostenol was applied, in the 14o day 250UI eCG intramuscular, was applied; G2
intravaginals sponges were inserted impregnated with 50mg MAP, for a period of 14 days,
in the twelveth day of permanence 125μg of cloprostenol was applied and introduced two
males, by a period of seven days; G3 without application of intravaginal sponges nor
cloprostenol, males were introduced for a period of seven days. The verified result as for
the synchronization of the estrus and fertility of all females, fertility of mated sheep and
prolificity was: G1 100%, 80%, 80% and 1.3, G2 70%, 63%, 90.5 and 1,35, G3 36,6%,
36,6%, 1,4 and 100% respectively. It is concluded that, the association of intravaginal
implant of progesterone and cloprostenol, associated with the male effect presents
satisfactory results of synchronization and fertility.
