Résumé:
The lemon is one of the most used species of the Citrus genus around the world for its
therapeutic activities. The essential oil obtained from the fruit has been used recently by
the population as a complementary and integrativ therapy and has been arousing much
interest in the academic community in the last decade, in the construction of scientific
knowledge regarding its various properties. The present study main to analyze the
published literature regarding the therapeutic activity of the species Citrus limon (L)
Burn, through a type of a systematic review, the "Rapid Review" in the databases:
PubMed, SciELO and LILACS, in the last decade (2011- 2021), using the descriptors
"Citrus lemon", "essential oil" and "therapeutic use" together with the Boolean operator
"AND", selecting a total of 4 articles that enter in the inclusion criteria. Although most
researches are directed to the food industry, all selected studies showed good results in
relation to antiangiogenic, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-helicobacter activity, as well as
the gastroprotective action of Citrus lemon essential oil. In view of the satisfactory results
achieved for the most part in vitro, the importance and need for more studies and
investments to make possible the easy access and use of this product of natural origin to
the population can be observed, improving adherence to therapy.
