As residências unifamiliares de Geraldino Duda: um estudo sobre o morar em Campina Grande nos anos 60.

Abstract

The present work has as object of study eight single family homes, Abstract designed in the 1960s, by the self-taught architect and training engineer Geraldino Duda, in the city of Campina Grande. Best known for the important public works of the Severino Cabral Municipal Theater, Duda also had a great contribution to the diffusion of the modern movement in the city of through the various residential works projected by the same in the 1960s. The research aims to find out the role of its production, as a constituent part of the history of Campina Grande, and to extract from its work the design guidelines used. It is well known that modern heritage, especially the residential heritage, has been lost by stride and that preservation policies are still very fragile in several aspects. Thus, it is intended to document, expose and analyze this sample of works, as a way of encouraging its recognition and importance as material heritage. The study is the result of research that was carried out by the Research Group Architecture and Place, through the line HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE AND MODERN CITY FORM CG, of which the author also acts as researcher. The large amount of material and information collected made possible the reflections that will be exposed. Two methodologies were adopted, the first of which is to use primary sources, such as public and private archives; And on secondary sources such as libraries and virtual network. The second is focused on the analysis of architectural design. The theoretical framework is based on authors such as Serra (2006), Gastón and Rovira (2007), Segawa (1997), Mahfuz (2002), Amorim (2004), Queiroz e Rocha (2006), Afonso (2006), Almeida and Carvalho (2010), Tinem and Cotrim (2014), among others.
